About Rodri

Rodri is a defensive midfielder for Manchester City and Spain, and the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, the first defensive midfielder to take the award since Lothar Matthäus in 1990. He signed from Atlético Madrid in 2019 for a £62.6m release clause, then anchored the side that won four Premier League titles in a row and, in 2023, the treble. He scored the only goal of the 2023 Champions League final against Inter.

For Spain he was named Player of the Tournament as they won Euro 2024, having lifted the Nations League a year earlier. In September 2024 he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Arsenal, ending his season days before he collected the Ballon d'Or. He returned as a substitute against Bournemouth in May 2025.
