Privacy policy

What Touchline collects, why, and what you can do about it. We collect little, we do not sell it, and a profile is public on purpose. Here is the whole picture, plainly.

What we collect

When you create an account we collect your email address and the profile you build: your handle, display name, bio, avatar, the teams you follow, and the reviews, ratings, predictions and top fives you post. If you arrived through someone’s referral link, we keep a referral tag so we can credit them.

When you become a member, the payment runs through Stripe. We do not receive or store your card number. Stripe gives us a customer reference and your subscription status, so we know you are a member and can manage your billing.

We also collect basic, privacy-friendly analytics through Vercel: page views and web performance, so we can see what works and keep the site fast.

How we use it

We use what we collect to:

  • run your profile and your membership;
  • show the room, the reviews, ratings and records that make the site worth reading;
  • improve the model and the site;
  • contact you about your account, a change to a service, or a reply you asked for.

We do not use your data to target ads, and we do not build a profile of you to sell.

Public by default

Touchline is a public record of arguments, so a profile is public by default. Your handle, display name, bio, avatar, your reviews and ratings, your record, and any organisation you are affiliated with are visible to anyone, and can appear on other sites through Touchline embeds.

Embeds serve only these public profile fields, the same information a visitor sees on your profile page. Your email address and your billing details are never public and are never in an embed.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of cookies and browser local storage to keep the site working: a session so you stay signed in, and preferences such as your theme and your pinned games. We also set the analytics described above.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear this storage in your browser at any time, though some preferences will reset if you do.

Who we share with

We share data only with the services that run Touchline, and only so they can do their job:

  • Stripe, to take and manage payments;
  • Supabase, to store your account, profile and posts;
  • Vercel, to host the site and provide analytics;
  • Resend, to send you account email.

Each processes data on our behalf under its own terms. We do not sell your personal data, and we will only disclose it otherwise where the law requires it.

Retention and your rights

We keep your data for as long as you have an account, and for a short while after for backups and legal reasons. You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to correct it, and to have it deleted.

You can edit most of your profile yourself. To delete your account and profile, email us at hello@touchline.watch and we will remove them, though aggregated figures a review has already fed into, and short-lived cached copies, may persist for a time.

Children

Touchline is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows. When we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Touchline after a change means you accept the updated policy.

How to contact us

Questions about your data, or a request to access, correct or delete it, go to hello@touchline.watch. (Placeholder address, to be confirmed.) The terms of service cover the rest of the relationship.
