About Germany

Germany are one of international football's great powers, with four World Cups and three European titles across the West German and unified eras. Founded in 1900, the DFB built a reputation for tournament reliability that no rival matches, and their 2014 World Cup, sealed by Mario Götze against Argentina, remains the modern high point. Miroslav Klose, the record scorer on 71, is also the World Cup's all-time top scorer.

The years since have been a rebuild. A first-round exit in 2018 and a group-stage failure in 2022 forced a reset, and the side restored belief by reaching the Euro 2024 quarter-final on home soil before losing to Spain. With Toni Kroos retired and the coaching job open again after 2026, the team leans on Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz to carry the next era.

In transition. The coaching job reopened after 2026, with Toni Kroos retired and a young core of Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz around Joshua Kimmich and Antonio Rüdiger. The reliability of old is being rebuilt.
