About Florian Wirtz
Florian Wirtz was the heart of the best Leverkusen team ever assembled. In 2023/24 they went through all 34 Bundesliga games unbeaten, the first team in German history to do it, and added the DFB-Pokal for an unbeaten double; Wirtz contributed 11 goals and 11 assists in the league, scored a hat-trick in the 5–0 title clincher against Werder Bremen, and was named Bundesliga Player of the Season.
Signed from Cologne's academy at 16, he became the Bundesliga's youngest ever scorer at the time in June 2020, aged 17, and its youngest to 50 appearances. For Germany he scored after seven seconds against France in March 2024, the fastest goal in the national team's history. Liverpool signed him in June 2025 for an initial £100m, rising with add-ons, and he now runs their midfield.
