About Chelsea

Chelsea were founded in 1905 at Stamford Bridge, the ground they have never left. The modern club is the product of two takeovers: Roman Abramovich's, which brought five league titles and both Champions Leagues between 2005 and 2021, and the 2022 Clearlake purchase, which bet heavily on young squads and long contracts.

The bet half-landed. Enzo Maresca's young side won the 2025 Conference League, completing Chelsea's full set of UEFA trophies, then beat PSG 3–0 in July 2025 to win the first expanded Club World Cup. Maresca left on New Year's Day 2026, Liam Rosenior lasted 107 days, and the reset now belongs to Xabi Alonso, in charge from 1 July 2026 on a four-year deal.

Recent form

A season of churn after the high of July 2025: Maresca left on New Year's Day with Chelsea fifth, Liam Rosenior was gone inside four months, and the FA Cup final was lost 0–1 to Manchester City. Xabi Alonso took charge on 1 July 2026 with a four-year contract and a young core, Palmer, Caicedo and João Pedro, that most of Europe still envies.
