About Roberto Baggio

Roberto Baggio is the great Italian fantasista of the 1990s, a second striker of rare vision who won the 1993 Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year in the same year. He broke through at Fiorentina, joined Juventus in 1990, where he won the 1993 UEFA Cup and a Serie A title, and later played for Milan, Bologna, Inter and Brescia.

He is best remembered for the 1994 World Cup, where his knockout goals carried an ordinary Italy to the final, only for him to sky the decisive penalty in the shootout defeat to Brazil. He remains the only Italian to score at three different World Cups, and retired in 2004 with 318 career goals and a place among the most loved players Italy has produced.
