About Paolo Maldini
Paolo Maldini is the defining one-club footballer, spending all 25 senior seasons at AC Milan between 1984 and 2009. Elite at left-back and centre-back, he made 902 appearances and captained the club for years, winning seven Serie A titles and five European Cup and Champions League crowns, the last in 2007 at the age of 38.
For Italy he won 126 caps between 1988 and 2002, a record at the time, captaining the side 75 times across four World Cups and three European Championships without lifting a major international trophy. Milan retired his number 3 shirt when he left, reserving it for his sons. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders in history.
