Gianluigi Buffon is one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time. He broke through at Parma before a then-world-record goalkeeper transfer to Juventus in 2001, where he made 509 appearances across two spells and won 10 Serie A titles. Positioning, reflexes and command of his area kept him at the top for an extraordinarily long time.

For Italy he was the last line for two decades, winning the 2006 World Cup with the Golden Glove and a record 176 caps. He reached three Champions League finals with Juventus but finished runner-up each time, the one gap in his cabinet. After a season at Paris Saint-Germain and a farewell at Parma, he retired in 2023, aged 45.
