About Argentina
Argentina are three-time world champions, from 1978, 1986 and 2022, and hold a South American record 16 Copa América titles. The 2022 win in Qatar, sealed on penalties against France, gave Lionel Messi the one prize that had eluded him.
Lionel Scaloni, in charge since 2018, has built the most durable side of the era: World Cup winners in 2022, back-to-back Copa champions in 2021 and 2024, and near-permanent residents at the top of the FIFA ranking. Messi remains the all-time top scorer and most-capped player.
