About Federico Valverde
Federico Valverde is Real Madrid's box-to-box midfielder, wearer of the No. 8 and, from 2025/26, a club vice-captain. Since breaking into the first team he has won two Champions Leagues (2022 and 2024) and three La Liga titles, and his first-time volley against Manchester City in the 2023/24 quarter-final was voted the Champions League Goal of the Season. He has been named in La Liga's Team of the Season three years running.
Nicknamed El Pajarito, he came through Peñarol in his native Montevideo, debuting in Uruguay's top flight at 17, then spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Deportivo La Coruña before establishing himself at Madrid. For Uruguay he is a fixture in midfield, with more than 70 caps, a 2022 World Cup behind him and a third-place finish at the 2024 Copa América.
