About Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes has captained Manchester United since July 2023 and wears the armband for Portugal too. Since arriving from Sporting CP in January 2020 for an initial €55m he has been the club's creative engine, reaching 100 goals and 100 assists for United, the third player in its history to manage both after Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney.
He learned his trade in Italy with Novara, Udinese and Sampdoria before Sporting CP, where he was twice Primeira Liga Player of the Year. At United he has won the EFL Cup and the FA Cup; for Portugal he lifted the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025. In 2025/26 he was named FWA Footballer of the Year after a single-season record of 21 Premier League assists.
