About Zinédine Zidane

Zinédine Zidane is one of the greatest footballers of all time, an attacking midfielder whose close control, vision and balance defined France's golden era. Born in Marseille to Algerian immigrant parents, he broke through at Cannes and Bordeaux before Juventus in 1996 and Real Madrid in 2001. He was FIFA World Player of the Year three times (1998, 2000, 2003) and took the 1998 Ballon d'Or.

His defining moments came for France: two headed goals in the 1998 World Cup final against Brazil, and Player of the Tournament at Euro 2000. At Real Madrid he scored a left-foot volley in the 2002 Champions League final, one of the competition's iconic goals. His playing career ended at the 2006 World Cup, where he won the Golden Ball despite a red card in the final. He later coached Real Madrid to three straight Champions Leagues.
