about
Football has no shortage of opinions. Touchline is the one you can argue with.
A transparent model for the matches that matter, with the working shown and the misses kept. You can run the simulation yourself, read the engine, and check every call against what actually happened. Analysis, not tips.
what it is
Four things, done properly.
A model, in the open
A seeded Monte Carlo you can run in the browser and poke, parameter by parameter, until the number is yours. The engine is open source on GitHub, not a black box and never an oracle.
The receipts
Every call graded against the result, the hits and the misses, kept in public. A number is only worth anything if you can check whether the last one was right.
The room
Reviews, reactions and ratings from people watching the same match, so the ninety minutes are better and the group chat is funnier.
Your record
A profile that is the product: your predictions, your all-time five, your handle. The thing you hand out instead of your number.
why it exists
The internet is full of confident guesses. We wanted one you could check.
Most football talk asks you to take a strong opinion on trust. The number arrives with no working, the confident call is quietly forgotten when it misses, and the loudest voice wins the argument. That is fine for the pub. It is no good if you actually want to know.
So Touchline does the opposite. The model is a seeded simulation, so the same inputs always give the same answer, and it is open for anyone to read and run. The prices from the market sit next to it as information, never as a recommendation. And the whole record stays public, the misses included, because a track record you cannot see is just another confident guess.
who it is for
Built for people who want the receipt.
The Arguer
A defensible number and the working, so you win the argument and never look like a mug.
The Builder
Proof it is real. Poke the parameters, read the engine, check the sensitivity.
The Ritualist
A companion for the match that makes the watch better and the chat sharper.
The Competitor
Stake a public call and get scored on it over a season.
The Creator
A number and a receipt you can quote on air without it being a tip.
Different people, one spine: a number with its working, and a public record you can point at.
what it is not
Not a tipster.
There are no best bets here, no accumulators, no "who wins tonight" with false certainty, and no affiliate sportsbook links. The market odds are shown to inform the argument, never to push one. A model output is a probability with a margin of error, not a lock.
Touchline is for analysis and entertainment. Nothing on the site is betting advice or a recommendation to place a bet. Please gamble responsibly.
the method
Show the working. Keep the misses.
Each match is researched from cited sources, decomposed into an honest expected-goals picture, and run through a bivariate Poisson engine tens of thousands of times. The output is a distribution, not a headline. It is calibrated against real prices and published models, then graded against the result once the match is settled. When it is wrong, that stays on the record too.
Claim your corner of it.
