About Hull City
Hull City were founded in 1904 in a rugby league city and waited a century for the top flight: promotion via the 2008 play-off final was their first, and the 2014 FA Cup final, 2–0 up on Arsenal inside ten minutes before losing 3–2, remains their closest brush with a major trophy. The black and amber gives them their nickname, and the MKM Stadium has been home since 2002.
Acun Ilicali's Turkish media money steadied the club after the Allam years, and Sergej Jakirović's first season delivered a third play-off promotion: sixth place, a 2–0 aggregate semi over Millwall, then the Wembley final against Middlesbrough settled by Oli McBurnie in the 95th minute in front of 84,506. Opta's expected-points table had them 23rd, which says everything about the overperformance and the task ahead.
Honours
- 3Championship play-off finals2008, 2016 and 2026, all won at Wembley
- 4Third-tier titles1933, 1949, 1966 and League One in 2021

Recent form
Promoted via the 2026 play-off final, 1–0 against Middlesbrough, after finishing sixth on 73 points, the first sixth-placed side promoted since 2010. Jakirović is in talks over a new deal, Jack Butland arrived from Rangers, and McBurnie, whose 19 goals included the Wembley winner, leads the line. The heaviest summer question is squad depth: eleven of the Wembley squad have moved on.
